Filofax: Week 36

Happy Monday! Hope you enjoyed your weekend :) As for me, I sure got a lot done! I have some really fun stuff planned for my blog this month, so be sure to follow me here on Blogger to stay updated on my recent posts. Hint: I have something awesome coming up soon...

In case you missed last week's layout, you can find it here. This week was another busy one! With the help of my color-coding system, I'm didn't have a problem staying on top of things. As you can see, I write down everything. From blog planning and crafty projects to personal notes and family trips. Writing out all of the details is what really helps me to stay organized.

Filofax: Week 37 | Full Spread

Penmanship and handwriting is a passion of mine that I love including in my planner. I enjoy playing around with different fonts when adding specifics to my week. Since I don't own one of those cool checklist stamps, I make-do with what I have and hand-draw my little checkboxes. It totally works for me and looks just as cool!

To decorate this week's pages, I stuck with the usual washi tape on the top and bottom of each page. I really like the monochromatic color scheme of the gray & white tape with the colorful writing from my color-coding system. I used gray chevron washi by Studio G on the top and cut them into a banner shape, and a special edition potty people tape for the bottom of the pages. The only other things I added to the spread was a Hello Kitty anchor cutout and a camera image from my tiny calendar stamp set. Not much room for anything else...

Filofax: Inside My Domino | Part 2

Hello everyone! I feel like I've gotten so much done this week, which is quite surprising for me since I'm the mother to an active and demanding 4-year-old. My Filofax really helps me to stay on top of my projects, and I'm happy that I haven't had to make adjustments to my planning.

A few weeks ago I revealed Part 1 of my Domino, and I'm happy to finally share the remaining pages with you today. Here are the rest of the sections in my book...

MISC.

This section in my Filofax is pretty self explanatory. It holds various papers and inserts that don't fit into my other categories. I used pretty double-sided patterned paper to create the divider, a Dymo label for the tab, a printable quote for artwork, and some fun washi tape for embellishment.

I put all of my random stuff inside of this section. Here I have some pull-outs from a magazine that I found years ago. They're informative little cards and I love having easy access to them. I also keep the miscellaneous pages that came with my Filofax here. 

NOTES

This section is another one that is pretty self-explanatory. It holds all of my written notes, along with blank note paper and memo sheets, and a dashboard with fun sticky notes. I used more girly double-sided patterned paper that complements the rest of my dividers. I added another printable for inspiration and a Dymo label for the tab.

The first thing you see when you open the Notes tab is my handmade dashboard. I made it using a Prima overlay from my stash and filled it with some fun sticky notes. To the top of the flyleaf, I added a Daiso label with a doodle of a pencil, so whenever I need to jot down a quick note I can easily find some stickies.

Following my handmade dashboard is a fun mix of random note paper. Most of these sheets were sitting in my stash for a year. With the help of a handy hole puncher, I was happy to finally use them here in my book.

I also like making good use of my collection of notepads. I just took a few sheets and punched some holes in them. Now I have papers from my favorite notepads right here in my Filo.

CONTACTS

I don't think I really need to explain anything for this section, so I won't be going into much detail here. I used another pretty double-sided patterned paper to create the divider. Again I added a Dymo label for the tab, and a printable tag from my stash.

THE EXTRAS

It's all about the details... Here I'll be sharing some of the little extras I've included in my Filofax.

The top loading pocket that came with my Domino holds different tabs, labels, and reinforcements. I thought it needed something else, so I added a cute little owl image to the front of it. Now it's perfect and makes me smile!

Following the top loading pocket is my credit card insert from an old Franklin Covey planner. It holds the crafty loyalty cards from my favorite stores, as well as a personal photograph. The printable card I placed on the back of the top-loading pocket has a sweet message and draws my eye to that picture.

A treasured photograph is a really great way to add a personal touch to any book. This one was taken with my pink Instax Mini 8 instant camera. It's much like a retro Polaroid camera from back in the day, but this new generation of instant cameras produces credit card sized photos. They fit perfectly into those slots. I customized this photo even more by covering it with some pretty washi tape.

Next comes another personalized piece, my handmade envelope. I've been making envies like these since I was kid, and thought it would be fun to add one to my Filo. I really love the look and colors from this nail art advertisement, which I found in a magazine a while back. I used washi tape to reinforce the holes and a printable flair badge and Cameo cut with a doodled stitch detail for embellishment.

The back of my Domino has the collection of small stickers I like to use in my book. These personal sized sheets already had holes, so it made sense to add them right to the rings.

I have a zipper pouch in the very back of my book that holds all of my small kawaii stickers.

I have even more flat stickers in the back pocket of my Domino. Aren't they cute?

The only pen loop in my planner holds a small, pink twist-pen that I picked up from my favorite store for Filofax supplies, Daiso. I just couldn't pass it up! It looks adorable in my personal Domino.

Last but not least are my charms. I picked up the kokeshi doll from Daiso, and the honu (sea turtle) came from a local artisan at our neighborhood Farmer's Market. A charm is definitely one of the easiest ways to personalize your Filofax. Much like the jewelry you wear on your body, they can easily be changed out depending on your mood and style. Have fun with it!

Smashbook: My Name Is...

Happy Wednesday :) I hope you're enjoying your week! I've been so busy with so many other projects, that it feels like forever since the last time I shared a spread from my pretty pink SMASH book. I know with this crazy year and my current obsession with Project Life and Filofax, I've been neglecting my SMASH books for quite some time. I figured since I haven't had the chance to work in them lately, I would share some old spreads I created last year.

Around this time last year I was fairly new to SMASH books. But I have been documenting memories this way since I was a child. I still have my old altered composition books from 20 years ago filled with doodles and journaling, photobooth pictures, clippings from magazines, ticket stubs, fun tags from my favorite products. I guess that you can say I'm a natural SMASHer that was SMASHing before there was even a name for it! Not much has changed now that I'm in 30's, except that my style has grown and evolved.

Today I'm sharing a spread that I created around the end of Summer in 2012. It was one of my very first layouts, and I was slowly starting to develop my own style. Many of the techniques I used in this spread, I continue to use today. It has a little bit of everything, and is filled with many of my favorite elements.

Smashbook: My Name Is | Full Spread

This spread originally started out as a test page for some new ink and stamps I purchased, and some homemade glimmer mists I was trying out. [You can find my Glimmer Mist DIY here.] I really loved the way it looked when I was done, and thought it would be the perfect background for a whole new layout.

The images from my stamps, and the colors from the new ink and spray mists were totally me. So I decided to do a sort of "About Me" using acronyms from my name. I chose upper case alphabet stickers to get me started, and used my love of handwriting and penmanship to spell out specific traits for each letter of my name.

I also thought it would be fun to add a photograph of myself taken during that specific time in my life. I've used confetti pages many times in my handmade Daybooks, and thought of a way to apply this techique in my Smashbook for this spread. Combining the cellophane packaging from a sheet of stickers and some fun washi tape, I was able to create a see-through envelope which I attached to the page with a washi-tape hinge. I added some confetti (the negatives from my different paper punches) and an instagram selfie. Being a "green mama," I love that I was able to repurpose things that would normally be thrown away.

Smashbook: Right Page

Magazine clippings are one of my favorite SMASH* supplies (going back to my childhood), and being able to use this potty girl image from my stash made it a perfect addition to this spread. A clear crown sticker is the finishing touch. I also love pockets. You can find all different kinds in the pages of my books. I thought it would be fun to add one to this spread too. This particular pocket was handmade using pretty patterned paper, and embellished with washi tape, a cardstock tag, and pink glitter alphabet stickers.

Smashbook: My Name Is | A Handmade Pocket Holds Journal Cards

Inside the pocket holds some small Project Life journal cards that are perfect for SMASHing. These are all free printables that I used to document specific things I wanted to remember at that time. I have a favorite quote, 5 Things That I Love, and Facts about Me.

For an added touch I used more washi tape to create little tabs on each card. The main reason I do this because my daughter loves flipping through my SMASH books and interacting with the different elements. The washi tabs makes it easier for her to pull the cards in and out of the pocket without tearing it apart. It's fun for her and makes me worry less about my book in the hands of a 4-year-old.

Project Life: Week 33

Happy Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed the long holiday weekend :) I spent most of my time relaxing and catching up on lots of different projects, including the spread I'm going to share with you today from my Project Life album...

Life Documented

August 11 - August 17

Week 33: Full Spread

We didn't do anything special this week, but it didn't stop me for capturing everyday life moments. Shopping hauls, tropical smoothies, a sweet surprise for our daughter, even family dinners, happy mail, and some smartphone snippets. Those photographs and tidbits of life were my inspiration for the color and theme this week. It's all about black and white with pops of color. I didn't embellish the pages too much, but instead went for cool printables, handmade cards, and simple details to showcase our week.

Week 33: Left Page

Continued from the end of Week 32 is the pocket page that I picked up from Hobby Lobby. Here I'm using a Becky Higgins title card from her Mayfield Mini Kit. I embellished it with Amy Tangerine thickers, some washi tape, and a printable tag that I journaled the current week on.

For the remaining 4"x 6" pockets I used a mix of photos and cards. Here I added a wallet-size photo to a journal card that I received in a RAK. These smaller 4"x 3" pockets have double-sided patterned filler cards. The first one is the backside of a MAMBI card, which I added another wallet-sized instagram photo and a black tag cut on my Cameo. I used a white gel pen to add a stitching detail and my journaling. The black and white polka dot card was made from my scraps. It has another small instapic and some tiny alphabet stickers.

Here I used more Amy T. supplies with a 4"x 4" instapic for my 4"x 6" "Minion" card. The reverse side of another double-sided card from last week holds a wallet-sized instagram photo and some journaling. The remaining cards are fun free printables from my stash that tie my black and white theme together quite well.

Week 33: Right Page

This is a Becky Higgins Design A pocket page that I've filled with a fun mix of photographs and cards. Some are handmade, others are printables, and a couple are by MAMBI or WRMK. I chose this page specifically for the 3"x 4" pockets to hold some special cards. Again, I used very little embellishments. Simplicity was key for this spread.

The two 6"x 4" slots hold a cool printable, along with a handmade card using paper from Amy Tangerine's Ready Set Go line. I added two wallet-size instagram pics, a banner that I received in a RAK, and some black Studio G alphas. I also used an Ali Edwards arrow stamp and journaled directly onto the card.

For the row of 3"x 4" pockets I used a mix of different cards and images. The first one is a colorful MAMBI card with a small instapic and the other half of the black tag that I cut with my Cameo. I used a heart corner punch, a white gel pen for the dotted border and journaling, and a few American Crafts alphabet stickers to create the tab. I used another printable from my stash and some snippets from my Galaxy S3 to fill the remaining pockets. A couple of print and cut labels finish off those cards.

Week 33: A Quote Card

I needed to fill the last pocket and decided to use my love of quotes for inspiration. So I scoured through my stash of printables for the perfect journal card and came across this black and white one that even had the perfect prompt. I chose cursive for the handwriting, and added some thin paper tape in a yellow dotted design, for a pop of color and to fill the blank space.

I really love how this spread turned out! Simple and fun with cool little details. I hope you enjoyed this week's Project Life post! Filofax: Week 35

Hello! I hope you had a wonderful weekend :) Here in the States, we're enjoying a relaxing 3-day weekend in honor of Labor Day on Monday. As much as I love long weekends, this one pretty much marks the end of summer :( I hope the warm weather decides to stick around a bit longer, but you never know with the Pacific NW!

Although summer is coming to an end, I'm still planning on using my Filofax to help me stay organized. From one season to the next, the pages will continue to be filled with notes, tasks, and details to help our family stay on top of things. I have to say that having a color-coding system really works for me, and makes things so much easier. It's the same system I've been using for over a decade.

I mainly use my Filofax to keep track of personal, family, and household details, notes, appointments, events, etc. I also use it to help me stay organized with this blog as well as Project Life planning. I really enjoy having all of this information together in one place. Eventually, I think I may add an A5 Filofax to my collection, which will then be strictly used for my blog, Project Life, and crafty stuff.

Filofax: Week 35 | Full Spread

In case you missed it, here is Week 34. Just like the previous weeks, I used my color-coding system for the different subjects I want to keep track of. And since handwriting and penmanship is a passion of mine, I really enjoy playing around with different fonts for the details in my calendars. I also doodle checkboxes so I can easily mark off my completed tasks. Whatever doesn't get checked off goes into the next week.

I do a lot of planning ahead too... and sometimes those plans change. If that happens, my transparent sticky flags really come in handy. A quick little note on it is all I need to mark that change. It also does a great job of adding a fun pop of color to my pages.

As you can see, I write down a lot of things. So I choose not to embellish my pages too much beforehand. I want to be sure that I have enough space for all of the details, and add little stickers or doodles as I go throughout my week. But one thing I do before starting any week is prep my pages with washi tape. I have to admit, the prettiness of my pages is what inspires me to use them.

My washi this week have designs in my favorite color. Pink. I chose one with a fun geometric pattern for the top of my pages, that I cut into banners. That tape came from a set of two that I picked up at JoAnne's for a buck. For the bottom I used a fave tape with a cute ruler design that I purchased from my favorite little shop Paper Addict. They really look great together!

The WO2P inserts I'm using were created by my girl Cathy V. of Paper Addict. You can download them here. I really enjoy them because they start on Sunday and are extra spacious. I have more than enough room for all of the details as well as decorations.

Filofax: Week 35 | Goodbye August

Here are my August calendar pages all filled up. The MO2P inserts I'm using is No. 6101 by Paige Paigen. I really like the layout and how roomy the boxes are. The list on the left is great as well. I added some personal touches for inspiration and to make it more me.
