Filofax: My 2013 Holiday Planner

Happy Wednesday! I'm so glad you've managed to squeeze in a little break to check out today's Filofax post :) I have a pretty hectic schedule this week myself, but I made some time to share my 2013 Holiday Planner with you today!

I know some people make a separate book or binder to keep track of all their important holiday info, but I did something a little different. I already use two Filofaxes each and every day to help organize my life, and I really didn't feel like carrying around another book on top of that. So I added a "Holidays" section to my A5 Original Filofax. [See the inside of my A5 Original & Personal Domino and how I use them.]

Filofax: My 2013 Holiday Planner | Handmade Divider

I started out by creating a handmade divider using glittery patterned holiday scrapbook paper [gifted to me last Christmas from a friend], and one of my other dividers as a template. I added the tab to the top, rather than the side like the others, so it's easily accessible. I created a banner using paper tape, doodled a stitch detail around it, and topped it off with some glittery pink Recollections number stickers. I used a pink and black glittery label sticker, some Cosmo Cricket clear alphabet stickers, the triangle scrap from the banner I cut, a glittery asterisk sticker, and a silver paint pen to complete the tag.

Since the other side of my handmade divider was white, I decided to give it some pops of color using my homemade alcohol ink and glimmer mist. To decorate the page, I made another paper tape banner and layered it with yellow striped washi and a red polka dot label sticker. I wrote "Celebrate" using a faux calligraphy technique, and finished off the page with some red ink and a stamp by Ali Edwards. I use this fun page like a dashboard, perfect for sticky notes.

I knew what I wanted to keep track of when I started putting my Holiday planner together. And when it came to filling this section with printables, I was so happy when I came across The House on Hillbrook blog. Stephanie created a lovely set of printables that included everything I was looking for... and more! What I love most about them is the fun design and non-traditional colors that work beautifully with my A5 and holiday theme.

The set comes with a double-page November and December calendar, but I only needed the latter, so that's what I printed. I created a homemade dashboard using a Prima overlay to hold important sticky notes relating to my Dec. calendar.

I added some Christmas art using a card from my stash of December Daily supplies. A few hole punches creates a fun addition to my holiday planner.

Here you can see my December calendar in full detail. Although I already have a calendar for December as part of my monthly Filofax inserts, I'm using the one in my "Holidays" section to plan details for my December Daily, our activity advent calendar, and photo challenges. It's a lot easier having an extra calendar to keep track of this stuff!

Next are my lists. I have a holiday clean-up checklist printable from the set, followed by some paper from my stash of notepads that I've punched holes in.

This is a close-up of the paper I'm using in my Holiday Planner. I found a snowflake-themed task pad in Target's dollar bin that fits perfectly into my A5. Next is a To-Do List from a new favorite notepad that I picked up at TJ Maxx. The pink notepaper design may not be a holiday theme, but the color works well in my A5, and I'll be using it year round.

A Holiday Planner wouldn't be complete without a Thanksgiving meal planner. This one prints with a landscape layout and I arranged it so the holes are punched on the bottom.

Next I have the Black Friday shopping tracker and a Christmas Wishlist that I have yet to fill out. I think I'll be doing that when I have some free time after I make Thanksgiving dinner ;)

The last pages I added from The House on Hillbrook set is the Gift Tracker and Christmas Meal Planner. They are exactly what I needed.

The only thing missing from that set was a Christmas card list. So I went with one created by All Things Christmas. You can find it here. I prefer this one over the other ones I've seen on Pinterest because it has a simple design, and enough room for the 20 different addresses on our list.

  1. I wish I had the time to start a Filofax, but I have no idea where to start! I admire your posts. Can I ask you what printer you use? I have a black & white printer which is one of the main reasons of setting me back from doing all these great projects. PS… happy thanksgiving!

    1. Hi Amy! I use an HP 2050 3-in-1 inkjet printer for all of my printing needs. Project Life photos, printables, Filofax inserts, etc. I may upgrade in the near future, but right now it works for me :)

Thank you! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones ♡

  3. I use a Christmas section in my planner, too: http://giftieetcetera.blogspot.com/2013/10/video-working-system-that-you-already.html but yours is way cuter. How much time does it take to do that? (I assume, by the looks of it, that decorating is a talent of yours?)

    1. Thank you, G.E. :) It didn't take much time at all to put this together. I guess you can say that decorating is a talent of mine ;-) My planners are really an extension of myself, so I do A LOT of personalizing in them ♡
